Have an innovative idea? We all have but usually they just remain good ideas. Cleveland is fortunate in that there is an organization whose sole purpose is to provide guidance and even funding for innovative ideas that will help the community.
The Civic Innovation Lab will give you guidance from expert mentors and up to $30,000 to turn the idea you are passionate about into a reality that positively impacts the economy of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County
You may remember Jennifer Thomas from her days running the popular networking group called Cleveland Clicks. For the last couple years, Jennifer has been serving as Director of the Civic Innovation Lab.
The Lab follows the theory that it is better to fund a lot of projects with potential with small (30k or under) amounts rather than throwing large amounts at 1 or 2 projects.
In this interview, Jennifer Thomas tells how to submit your great idea and talks about some of the lab's success stories such as Thomas Mulready's Cool Cleveland, John Zitzner's ePrep Academy. Collin Drummond's Microsystems Academy and Melissa Williams' Seed Factory in Buckeye.
She also talks about Cleveland Clicks and her one wish for Cleveland.
