IcePics (In Case of Emergency Pictures) takes a photo and emails it with your GPS map location to a list of email contacts that you created - all with one touch of the icon. Imagine a stranger approaching your daughter in a menacing way. She presses the IcePics icon which instantly sends a photo and her exact location to you and others on her list. Depending on the circumstances, it may be best if she tells the bad guy what she is doing to deter the person from acting. Touching the IcePics icon from your front screen will automatically bring up the iPhone camera, snap a shot, and send this photo to a set of pre-selected email contacts. Even if your iPhone was smashed, turned off, or thrown in a lake, the photo has been sent to one or more pre-selected email recipients. The GPS location is included in the email with a link to a Google Map of the location of where the photo was taken. The GPS feature is a good way to send your location when lost and or injured. For instance, some users have been lost hiking and say they always have their phone. Now if lost or injured while hiking they can send the GPS location of where they can be found – along with a photo of their injury, if needed. The app was written with emergency situations in mind, but other uses are being discovered. Parents can use IcePics as an "electronic leash" to confirm the location of the kids with the Google Map pinpointing their location. Sleepover at Sally's? Send dad an IcePic to confirm so he can rest easy. And it can be used as a simple way to send photos to yourself. Just set up your home email as the recipient address and all of your photos will be in your own mailbox without the multi-step process that must be used to send them without this app. The app is $2.99 and available on the App Store.
