Channel 5 anchor Ted Henry moderated a panel of heavy hitters at the annual Tech City program of the Corporate Club at Landerhaven. Red Room Revolution founder Cathy Panzica was joined by Case VP of IT and OneCommunity Chairman Lev Gonick and Baiju Shah, President and CEO of Bio Enterprise.
It was an optimistic session as the panelists talked about collaborative and innovative projects going on in the region. The "Fear" of technology that moderator Henry asked about is being driven out by the opposites of Fear - Faith to Panzica or Greed to Shah.
Gonick said that "The Old Cleveland didn't have the network we have now" and it meant more than the good old boy or other social network. It also refers to the physical network we have connecting companies, non-profits, hospitals and other institutions.
Ted Henry urged the crowd to let the media know about these things rather than have the media drive the agenda but the tech savvy crowd was way ahead of him. With local business and tech media like (shameless plug alert!) Inside Business Magazine and the PD's Henry Gomez Tech Blog and the work of other bloggers and podcasters, the tech scene is pretty actively represented.
A common sentiment from the panelists and the audience was the need for recognition that we are in a global economy and have to work with that in mind. That wasn't surprising as the three panelists "get it" and have been active leaders in the pursuit of getting more. Faces in the Crowd
