Dave Skorepa is the Chief Creative Officer at Aztek, a terrific Web design, development, searching and hosting firm based in Cleveland Ohio.
It's his job to keep current on the latest web technologies and innovations so he can incorporate them in the designs Aztek creates for their customers. So he was a no-brainer choice to ask about what's new in the web world like HTML 5, CSS, jQuery, mobile development and the like.
The Great Lakes Geek caught up with Dave and his Aztek colleague Josh Brown in Aztek's West 9th office (yes, that's Cleveland Brown's Stadium in the background) and started talking web. The planned 5 minute podcast turned into 4 pod/vidcasts because they are doing such cool stuff.
Dave Skorepa and Josh Brown of Aztek
The first podcast/vidcast is about Cascading Style Sheets or CSS. CSS is a style sheet language used to separate the document content from the presentation semantics (the layout, look and formatting).
The CSS specifications are maintained by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and a new version CSS3 has been in progress for several years. Watch and hear some of the new features that CSS3 will bring to web development.
Note: The video is a little dark but I wanted to enjoy the view of Brown's Stadium as I filmed. The podcasts have a little more content than the videos.
Listen to the Aztek HTML interviewIn the next podcast/vidcast, Dave and Josh talk about new browsers like Chrome and IE 9, new HTML 5 features for video and GPS, plugins, JavaScript and JQuery, Flash and more.
