Rotary Club of Cleveland honors Franz Welser-Most & Cleveland Orchestra February 17, 2011
The February 17, 2011 meeting of the Rotary Club of Cleveland celebrated International Fellowship day. As members and guests enjoyed a buffet lunch, the Cleveland Rotary Singers accompanied by Mabledean Hancy, entertained.
Next came the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem.
David M. Browning, president of the Rotary Club of Cleveland, welcomed the crowd and gave some history of Rotary International's involvement in World Understanding and World Peace.
An invocation by Father Ralph Wiatrowski, pastor of St Barnabas Church was followed by guest introductions with Jerry Smith, Director of Development, Young Audiences of Northeast Ohio and Rotary business with President Browning.

Past Honorary President Ingrida Bublys (Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Lithuania) introduced Charles A. "Arnie" de la Porte and Rick Pollak.
The 2011 International Service Award was presented to Franz Welser-Most and the Cleveland Orchestra "who serve as outstanding ambassadors for Cleveland all around the world." The Rotary Club of Cleveland recognized the Cleveland Orchestra's "dedication to International Service through the 'Universal language of Music' in the furtherance of World Understanding and Peace."
The award was presented to Gary Hanson, Executive Director of the Cleveland Orchestra.
