So many of us have stopped wearing watches these days because we have so many other devices that tell us the time. With our ubiquitous cell phones there are many reasons to NOT wear a watch. Did you know that a watch is still an elegant symbol of your taste level and attention to detail? It also provides the rest of the world with a sign of just how much a successful man values his time and how much he wants to protect it. Here are a few simple watch tips: - When shaking hands, your watch should gently peek-a-boo out of your shirt sleeve - not be completely obscured by it. (Your shirt's cuff should gently glide over the watch's face.)
- Even though large-faced watches are immensely popular, think about your bone structure. If your bone structure is on the smaller side, your watch's proportion should reflect this. Likewise, if you are a bigger guy, a smaller watch will look undersized on you.
- A watch shouldn't fit like a glove - it should fit like watch. If it is too loose around, take it to a jeweler or watch repair shop to have link or two removed. Make sure a leather band is fastened on a comfortable notch - not too tight, and not too loose.
- When selecting a dressy metal watch, unless you only wear silver or only wear gold, opt for a combination of both. This works especially well if you have a silver wedding ring but are wearing a blazer with gold buttons and other gold accessories. It's a no-fail solution.
- For a more casual watch, choose good quality leather, and choose either an embossed look (think mock crocodile) or a more matte leather with contrasting stitching.
